Remember:

Every day is Memorial Day for 1500 - 1800 families around the country.

According to the US Dept of Veteran Affairs:

23.8 Million living US Vets

Average age of WWII Vets: 84

Average age of Korean War Vets: 76

Average age of Vietnam Vets: 60

It is estimated that there will be 686,000 deaths of veterans eligible for a full Military Honors Funeral this year.

Active Military Buglers: 500


New total for Operation Taps participants: 123 Military Honors Funeral Services.

Changes to the OperationTaps web site:

Important message from Bill McGrath, Jr. member of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame, as well as member of various Percussion related Halls of Fame and one of the most respected musicians, instructors, and contributors in the marching music activity.
Bill's message will be distributed to every veterans group, and should be part of every participating unit's presentation to their community.

More and more organizations have reported on their involvement -
Empire Statesmen, Mighty St. Joe's, Rochester Crusaders, Prime Time Brass, Ghost Riders, and Syracuse Brigadiers. AND as of February 11... The Erie Thunderbirds!!!

The Mighty St. Joe's Alumni Corps from WNY have decided to create a flyer that can be distributed to all the veterans organizations and funeral homes.

Since starting this project on Pearl Harbor Day 2007: OperationTaps participating units have performed at military honors funerals for:
162 Veterans for whom the only other option was to use a recorded version of Taps.
